1I live on a quiet street where everybody knows everybody. 2Next door lives Mr Weber, a retired teacher who has got a long white beard. 3Every morning he walks his dog, which is almost as old as he is! 4Opposite our house there is a small bakery where Mrs Lang sells the best apple cake in town. 5She is short and cheerful, and she always gives me a free biscuit. 6The twins who live at number 12, Paul and Lukas, are in my class. 7They look exactly alike, but Paul is the one who always wears a red cap. 8I get on well with them because we have a lot in common: we all love skateboarding. 9The only person who scares me a bit is the man at number 3. 10He never smiles, and he shouts at the kids who play football in the street. 11But last winter, after a lot of snow, he cleared the snow in front of every house — even ours. 12Maybe people are sometimes different from what we think.
